Singam 2 not a sequel, just an extension: Director Hari Gopalakrishnan
The director says that his upcoming Tamil action-drama is an extension of Singam, but not its sequel
The second part is a continuation of the first with additional characters, said Singam 2 director Hari Gopalakrishnan. “I have retained all the characters from the first part and I have also added a few more actors in Singam 2, which makes it a continuation of the first part. Probably for the first time in Tamil cinema such a feat is attempted,” he added.Singam 2 features Suriya Sivakumar, Anushka Shetty, Hansika Motwani, Vivek, Santhanam, Nassar, Vijay Kumar, Radha Ravi, Mukesh Rishi and Manorama.
“I had developed the story for the second part even before Singam was released. Following the success of Singam, I decided to work on Singam 2 and I have received lot of encouragement from my team,” he said.
Hari says one of the highlights of the film would be locations. The story is set in South India and South Africa.
“While the first half is shot completely in South India, we have filmed crucial parts of the second half in places such as Durban, Cape Town and Johannesburg in South Africa. We have filmed an important fight scene in the crowded streets of Durban,” he said.
